Though fewer self-serve washes have been built in the last several years, the self-service car wash remains a viable alternative. Self-serve car washes usually have multiple bays where a customer uses several different wands and brushes to clean his or her car. High-pressure wash, rinse and wax, foam brush and clear coat protectant are some of the chemicals dispensed in the self-serve wash. In addition, vending items for window and interior cleaning and tire dressing are found at self-serve washes. Vacuums are yet another revenue source at these washes. Though land prices have limited the viability of self-serve washes in certain areas, they still make sense where the demographics and proforma work.
